The Risk Management and Decision Processes Center
University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School
The Wharton Risk Management and Decision Processes Center is studies policy and programs for low-probability events with potentially catastrophic consequences. The Center is especially concerned with natural and technological hazards and with the integration of industrial risk management policies with insurance. The Center is also concerned with promoting a dialogue among industry, government, interest groups and academics through its research and policy publications and through sponsored workshops, roundtables and forums.

The RAND Center for Terrorism Risk Management Policy
The Center provides research to inform public and private decision-makers on economic security in the face of the terrorism threat. The center was established in 2002 to study terrorism risk management, insurance, liability, and compensation. The Center is a collaboration of the RAND Institute for Civil Justice, which researchs liability and compensation, RAND Infrastructure, Safety and Environment, which focuses on terrorism and homeland security, and Risk Management Solutions (RMS), which provides models and services for catastrophe risk management.

The Center for Risk and Economic Analysis of Terrorism Events, University of Southern California
CREATE is an interdisciplinary national research center funded by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The Center comprises a team of experts from across the country, including partnerships with New York University and the University of Wisconsin at Madison. CREATE's mission is to improve our nation's security through the development and application of tools for assessing the risks and consequences of terrorism.

National Symposium on Risk and Disasters


University of Pennsylvania
The University of Pennsylvania provided leadership in convening the National Symposium on Risk and Disasters. The university has made a major committment to support relief efforts in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. The University and its student body have been supporting efforts to help millions of people rebuild their shattered lives from Katrina and other major world wide disasters.
